Episode 1
A fortune teller looks into her crystal ball and warns Aya, "In the future, you will fall under the control of the star of darkness. I see blood, anger, and sadness. The destruction of the equilibrium of everything in this world. On the day when the 16th star and moon come around, the fated time shall come to pass." Angry, Aya and her friends go off into a Kareoke room. Aya rants about her bad fortune and her friends tease her about it. Aya's twin brother Aki reminds her that the fortune teller also predicted that she would meet her destined savior...and he adds that it would be nice if Aya would finally find herself a boyfriend. Aya points at Aki and asks him why he doesn't have a girlfriend himself. Aki replies that he's too busy looking after her to find the time to have a girlfriend. As Aya's song comes up in the Kareoke, she introduces herself as the singing princess of Sarashina High School. Aki interrupts her, "Who calls you that?!" Annoyed, Aya goes on to sing the song and the opening theme Scarlet, begins. After they leave the Kareoke room, they head home on a street overpass. As Aya walks on ahead, their friends ask if they would like to go to a new Kareoke room for Aya and Aki's birthday the next day. Aya quickly agrees. Suddenly a woman screams as a man steals her purse. Aya goes after the man and tackles him. In a struggle, the man flings the purse in the air. Aya rushes over to grab the purse, but then accidentally falls over the overpass railing. As Aya falls, images flash before her eyes. Aya floats and lands safely on the street. As she wonders how she landed on her feet, a car comes driving towards her. Seconds before the car hits her, a man runs across the street and quickly rescues her. The driver curses at Aya and drives off. Aya realizes she's saved and looks up at her handsome savior. The man asks her if she's hurt and she blushes saying she's all right. Aki pushes his way through the crowd that gathered around Aya and yells her name. Aya turns her head and says a simple "Yo!". Angry, Aki yells at Aya for being so reckless. Aya turns to introduce Aki to her savior...but he had slipped away and disappeared. Back at their house, Aya sits on her bed in her room, thinking about her savior and wondering if she'll ever see him again. Aya falls back on her bed and wonders again about the images she saw flash before her eyes as she floated. Suddenly, Aki is in her face saying, "You floated didn't you?" Surprised, Aya quickly attacks him with a pillow. (kawaii scene ^_^). Aki comments how Aya is full of energy considering what has happened that day. Aya replies that she's lucky that she fell from the overpass bridge and landed without a scratch. Aya goes on to say that the events that happened actually gave her a thrill because her daily life is boring and repetitive. Aki gets up and sits next to her on the bed, telling her that he got a thrill also, but it was the feeling on how your life can suddenly fall apart in an instant. Aki tells Aya that he's scared to lose her in the future and he should make the best of what they had together now. Aya agrees and Aki tells her that they know they have tomorrow ahead of them. Aki playfully pulls on Aya's ponytail and tells her he's looking forward to his birthday gift from her. Aya replies that she's looking forward to his gift also and accidentally knocks Aki out with one of her dumbells in her hand. In the living room, their father reads a newspaper while their mother cleans the dishes. Aya and Aki walk out of the room, arguing. Their father interrupts their fight and informs them that after school, their grandfather has prepared a birthday party for them. Aya begins to argue that her friends prepared a Kareoke party after school, but their mother tells them to listen to what their father says. Aya and Aki wonder why their parents were suddenly so stern. After school the next day, Aya and Aki apologize to their friends and tell them they have to go to their grandfather's house for the party. As Aya and Aki walk away, their friends think it's pretty odd that their grandfather would be giving them a party at their age. As rainclouds begin to form, Aya and Aki get off a taxi at their grandfather's mansion gates. Aya complains on how their parents left before them. As Aya admires the mansion, Aki tells her that the house has been around since the Meiji era. They begin walking towards the house through the yards and Aya stops and notices and big pine tree she climbed when she was little and got in trouble for it. Aki angrily goes on ahead of her and tells her to mind her manners. Aya wonders if Aki is still angry about what happen yesterday night. As they argue, they notice one of their aunts cars driving by. Aya wonders why her aunt would come all this way just for their birthday. In the mansion, their grandfather greets them. As they walk up the stairs, Aya tells him it's embarassing that he was throwing them a party at their age. Their grandfather leads them to a room where a long table is stretched before them, with their family sitting silently on the sides. Their grandfather sits at one end of the table and tells them to have a seat on the other end. Hidden cameras all over the room begin to record and bodyguards begin preparing as grandpa announces to begin the "party". In the backscenes, Kagami, Alec, and Wei stand by, watching all the camera screens. Kagami warns the bodyguards to be alert as the ceremony begins. Inside the room, their grandfather wishes Aki and Aya a happy birthday and tells them that he had prepared a gift for them. Aya gets happy that they were going to receive their present and admits she was nervous when she didn't see any food on the table. Aki chastises Aya and grandpa laughs saying there was nothing wrong with being honest. A door on the side opens as a man steps in with a cloth covered box in his hands. Surprised, Aya looks at the man...who was her mysterious savior! Aya watches the man hand the box to another bodyguard and close the door behind him as he leaves. She begins to wonder what the man was doing here. The bodyguard sets the cloth covered box in front of Aki and Aya. Grandpa tells them to open it up and Aya nervously says she will. With all the relatives staring at every move, Aya unwraps the cloth and reveals a wodden box. Her heart suddenly begins to beat and she gets scared to open the box. Aki volunteers to open the box for her. As Aki lifts the box cover, a mummified hand is revealed. Suddenly, the same images begin to flash before Aya's eyes again. She shudders and braces herself as cameras begin to zoom in on her. The family watches on as a sudden burst of energy comes from Aya and her clothes tear. Aya's eyes turn golden and the mummified hand shatters before her. The cameras get knocked out and the observers panic, trying to bring them back online. Aya comes back to herself and looks at the box in front of her. There were bits and pieces of the hand scattered and she wonders what happened. She looks over at Aki and sees him shuddering himself. Cuts suddenly appear all over Aki's body and he screams in pain and blood pours from his body. Aya holds Aki in his arms and yells at her relatives to go get help before Aki dies. Grandpa interrupts Aya's screaming and tells her that Aki will not die because he will be the future leader of the Mikage family. As Aya stares at her family with shocked eyes, grandpa informs Aya that she will be the one to die. As Aya holds Aki in her arms, shocked at what she had just heard, the words of the fortune teller echoes in her mind. "In the future, you will fall under the control of the star of darkness. I see blood, anger, and sadness. The destruction of the equilibrium of everything in this world. On the day when the 16th star and moon come around, the fated time shall come to pass." |
