Introduction

According to legend, Buddha summoned all animals to be with him when he departed from Earth. However, out of all the creatures, only twelve came to wish him farewell.

Out of appreciation, Buddha named a year after each animal, in the order they appeared. This is the base of the Chinese horoscope. Each year is based on the order of the twelve Animal signs, when the last ends, the first one begins again.

Chinese Astrology bases your life and personality on which animal sign was ruling when you were born. Unlike Western Astrology where your zodiac would be based on a monthly basis, Chinese Zodiac is based on what animal year you were born in.
