Naruto, a series by newcomer manga artist Kishimoto Masashi, is a story that revolves the world of the Ninja. In a ninja camp called the Leaf Village, Uzumaki Naruto is a trouble maker who pulls pranks for everyone to acknowledge him. The reason why everyone in the village ignores his presence is because 12 years ago, a Nine Tails demon attacked the people and many lives were lost. The 4th Hokage (highest and strongest ninja) sealed the demon into Naruto when he was an infant. After performing the seal, the 4th Hokage lost his life, but he wished for everyone to acknowledge Naruto as a hero, and not as a cursed boy. However, everyone in the village refuses to associate with the boy carrying the demon inside him, so Naruto does his very best to become stronger in order to become a Hokage himself. Naruto runs into many friends and enemies as the story goes on, getting into deeper situations that threaten to reveal the demon living inside of him. But Naruto is always optimistic and energetic (probably a little TOO much ^^). His teammates are Uchiha Sasuke, the #1 student from the academy who carries an ambition to take revenge for the slaughter of his family; and Haruno Sakura, the most educated person for the academy (who Naruto has a huge crush on, but she constantly bashes on him for getting in the way of her love for Sasuke). Their team teacher is Hatake Kakashi, a jounin (elite ninja), who chose them for his first and only students ever from the academy, and does his best to try to train them to become their best. Naruto is not only a very popular Manga (featured weekly in "Shounen Jump", a popular Japanese guy's comic magazine) and monthly in "Shonen Jump", the English version of the magazine sold in North America. but is now also an animated series. The Naruto anime is being done by TV TOKYO with many popular voice actors and actresses but has been yet to be commercialized in North America. |
