A ten year old genius student, she was transferred into Yukari's class and is already the top student and class president. Chiyo is too adorable not to love and always has her hair up in pigtails. |

Kasuga "Osaka" Ayumu
A transfer student from Osaka, she's adorable but extremely slow. She's not really dim-witted, but her attention always seems to be elsewhere when somebody's talking to her and she ends up bringing up random subjects out of the blue. |

Sakaki
The silent athletic girl in Yukari's class, everybody either envies or fears her because of her cool exterior...but in reality, Sakaki is absolutely obsessed with kittens and cute things (and constantly blushes when her thoughts goes to them). |

Takino Tomo
Hyperactive and extremely loud, she enjoys playing pranks and teasing people to get her laughs. Where her conscience is lacking her self-opinion seems very high. But you have to admire Tomo for the fact even though she's brash, she's 100% honest. |

Kagura
An extremely athletic girl who lives and breathes for sports, she joins Yukari's class the 2nd year. Even though Kagura is lacking in the study department, she never misses the chance to challenge Sakaki to a sport. |

Mizuhara "Yomi" Koyomi
The everyday over achiever with one quirk...her weight! She's obsessed with diets and would strip down to her underwear if it mean losing an extra pound. Yomi and Tomo have been together since elementary. |

Kaorin
A girl often on the sidelines admiring Sakaki with heart eyes. She goes into a love-love mode whenever Sakaki's around (and even stalks her on school grounds). She gets transfered out of Yukari's class her 3rd year into Kimura's class. |

Chihiro
Often in the backgrounds (rather in the story in general), she is Kaorin's best friend and is always with her when they team up for a project. It was Chihiro that Kaorin partnered up with to make Chiyo's infamous penguin suit for the school festival. |

Tanizaki Yukari
The teacher who is accustomed to keeping the same people in her class year after year because she's too lazy to learn new names. She loves sleeping, drinking, and video games and she's known to be the worst driver in the world. |

Kurosawa "Nyamo" Minamo
Friends with Yukari since high school, Nyamo is the school's cool gym teacher. All the students seem to love her and she seems to be the most normal out of all the teachers. But Nyamo has a hidden complex that she'll never be able to find a husband. |

Kimura
The very odd classics teacher who often seems to be in this weird little world of his own. He took up teaching because he loves high school girls and always pops up at the weirdest moments to gawk at them. |

Chiyo Chi Chi (Daddy)
Although Chiyo's father never actually appears in the series, her father is mostly represented by a giant talking cat in Sakaki's thoughts. She had a New Years dream about Chiyo's dad being a giant cat and has stuck in her mind every since. |

Maya
The Yamamaya (mountain cat) that the girls meet on their trip to Okinawa. Maya is the very first cat that loved Sakaki and never bit her. In fact, when Sakaki left Maya behind in Okinawa, Maya followed Sakaki all the way. |

Kami-Neko
It is extremely touchy and dislikes being petted. Whenever Sakaki got her hand near, Kami-neko would take a chomp from her hand. However, after Sakaki gets Maya, it avoids attacking Sakaki in fear of the mountain cat. |

Tadakichi-san
Chiyo's large dog, but very gentle and seldom barks. Chiyo loves Tadakichi-san and takes very good care of him as he does with her. She even sometimes rides on him if she feels like it. |
